At SMG we connect and empower people who are change orchestrators, custodians and executors. Whilst our activities are wide ranging, our prime focus is to cater for ‘Regional Australia’, providing organisations with timely, relevant and unique b2b and b2g event opportunities enabling them to enhance capabilities and grow.
APAC: The 2012 APAC MICE market size was USD$ 200 billion which has, since then been displaying a steady CAGR growth of over 10%. Our focus is to enhance the capability of Australia, with particular reference to Regional Australia in terms of capability development, jobs, tourism and ecosystem.
AUSTRALIA: The key figures, commissioned from global research firm, Ernst & Young, show that in 2015/16, business events: contributed $30.2 billion in direct expenditure, compared to $28 billion in 2013/14, critically supported Australia’s GDP with a total economic contribution of $24.9 billion, compared to $23.1 billion in the previous period, and provided 193,203 direct jobs, increasing from 179,357 in the previous period.
Illawarra & Shoalhaven: ‘By 2050 the population of the Illawarra-Shoalhaven will be around half a million people. The region is home to one of Australia’s top 10 universities and an international trading port, comprises a landscape of significant biodiversity value, and delivered $16.2 billion in economic output to the State in 2013 – the Illawarra and Shoalhaven is a region of national significance’ – Gareth Ward – Parliamentary Secretary – Illawarra & South Coast.
Our founders recently met with Mark Grimson from Wollongong City Council, Trevor James from Shellharbour City Council and John Bird from UOW iAccelerate to discuss the ‘event gaps’ in the region. Their input and inclusive guidance has been paramount in narrowing down our core focus topics so that we hit the ground running.
The successful implementation of StageGate Media Group (smg) – A Neera’s Company will add value to the Illawarra-Shoalhaven region by consistently bringing the core issue to the forefront, providing job opportunities and internships to UOW graduates, encouraging tourism, focus and investment and pursuing growth opportunities for the Region.
